Why Choose Brite Landscaping for Raised Planters?

Designed Around Your Garden

We don’t simply add raised beds wherever space allows. Their position, height and proportions are planned around patios, lawns, boundaries and existing levels so they become part of the overall garden design.

Better Conditions for Your Plants

Where existing ground contains poor or compacted soil, raised beds allow us to introduce quality topsoil, compost and appropriate nutrients. We can create the depth and growing environment needed for flowers, shrubs, vegetables or architectural planting.

Built for Long-Term Performance

From timber sleepers to brick and masonry planters, we consider foundations, fixing methods, drainage, soil pressure and suitable materials during construction so your new raised beds remain practical as well as attractive.

Softwood Sleeper Planters

From £90–£140 per Linear Metre Installed

Treated softwood sleepers are one of the most popular ways to create raised beds, combining the natural appearance of timber with relatively affordable installation costs.

  • Cost-effective – usually our most budget-friendly constructed planter

  • Natural appearance – works particularly well alongside lawns and paving

  • Flexible design – straight beds, corners, tiers and different heights are easily created

  • Quick to install – ideal for wider landscaping projects

  • Treated timber – designed to improve resistance to outdoor conditions

  • Excellent value – substantial appearance without masonry costs

A great all-round choice for creating defined planting areas and adding structure to a garden.

Hardwood & Reclaimed Sleeper Planters

From £140–£220 per Linear Metre Installed

Hardwood sleepers provide a heavier, more substantial timber finish and are ideal where durability, character and a premium natural appearance are priorities.

  • Premium timber finish – richer colour and character than standard softwood

  • Extremely substantial – ideal for larger landscape designs

  • Long-lasting – quality hardwood naturally offers excellent durability

  • Traditional appearance – reclaimed sleepers can bring significant character

  • Suitable for tiering – useful for raised beds and changes in garden level

  • Premium price point – heavier and more expensive materials increase installation costs

Ideal if you want the natural appearance of timber but with a more substantial, premium finish.

Raised Vegetable & Herb Planters

Typically £450–£1,200+ per Planter

Purpose-built vegetable beds create a dedicated growing space where soil depth, quality and nutrients can be controlled much more easily than within existing garden ground.

  • Ideal for home growing – vegetables, fruit, herbs and salads

  • Better soil control – fill with suitable topsoil, compost and organic matter

  • Improved accessibility – higher beds reduce the amount of bending required

  • Better organisation – separate crops and planting areas cleanly

  • Can incorporate irrigation – useful for larger productive gardens

  • Bespoke sizing – built around your available space and growing plans

A great choice for homeowners who want a productive kitchen garden without relying on the quality of their existing soil.

Traditional Brick Raised Planters

From £120–£220 per Linear Metre

Brick planters provide a permanent, traditional finish that can complement the brickwork of your home and create strong architectural lines within the garden.

  • Traditional appearance – ideal for established and period properties

  • Extremely durable – a permanent hard-landscaping feature

  • Huge choice of bricks – match or contrast with the property

  • Strong structure – suitable for substantial raised beds

  • Coping options available – create a neat finished upper edge

  • Higher investment – foundations and skilled brickwork increase costs

A great option where you want your raised beds to feel like a permanent architectural part of the garden.

Rendered Block Planters

From £140–£220 per Linear Metre

Block-built and rendered planters are perfect for contemporary gardens, producing clean lines and a smooth finish that works particularly well alongside porcelain paving.

  • Modern appearance – clean, minimalist lines

  • Choice of colours – render can complement the house or paving

  • Strong construction – masonry creates a substantial permanent feature

  • Excellent with porcelain – particularly effective in contemporary designs

  • Flexible shapes & heights – suitable for larger bespoke layouts

  • Premium finish – more groundwork and finishing than timber alternatives

Ideal for modern garden transformations where clean lines and a seamless finish are important.

Clad Block Raised Planters

From £180–£300+ per Linear Metre

Clad planters combine the strength of a masonry structure with a decorative outer finish such as porcelain, natural stone or specialist wall cladding.

  • Premium appearance – creates a high-end bespoke garden feature

  • Huge finish choice – porcelain, stone and decorative cladding options

  • Can match your patio – excellent for creating a coordinated landscape

  • Strong masonry construction – designed as a permanent garden feature

  • Ideal for contemporary designs – particularly effective with modern paving

  • Premium price range – additional materials and skilled finishing increase cost

A fantastic choice for high-end garden transformations where the planter becomes part of the overall design rather than simply containing plants.

Raised planters are a simple way to completely change the shape and character of a garden. They can define patios, frame lawns, introduce different levels and create dedicated areas for flowers, architectural planting, herbs or home-grown fruit and vegetables.

Raised Garden Planter FAQs in Macclesfield

  • Raised beds add height, definition and character while creating dedicated planting areas. They can also improve growing conditions because soil quality, depth, drainage and nutrient content can be controlled more effectively.

  • Yes. This is one of their biggest advantages. Instead of relying entirely on poor existing ground, a raised planter can be filled with suitable topsoil, compost and soil improvers selected for what you intend to grow.

  • That depends on budget and design. Treated softwood sleepers offer excellent value, hardwood provides a premium timber finish, while brick, rendered blockwork and decorative cladding create more permanent architectural features.

  • Straightforward softwood sleeper beds can start around £90 per linear metre, while hardwood, brick, rendered and clad masonry planters cost progressively more. Height, foundations, corners, soil and planting significantly influence the final price.

  • Yes. We can construct purpose-built planters for vegetables, herbs, fruit and other edible plants and fill them with suitable soil and organic matter to create a productive growing environment.

  • Yes. Water should be able to drain appropriately rather than becoming trapped around roots or behind structural walls. The drainage detail depends on the planter material, height, soil and surrounding garden.

  • In many situations we install an appropriate internal membrane between soil and timber to help protect the structure while maintaining suitable drainage. The exact detail depends on the timber and planter design.

  • Lifespan varies considerably with timber species, treatment, drainage, ground contact and construction. Hardwood typically carries a higher initial cost but generally offers greater natural durability than budget softwood.

  • Yes, but once a structure is holding back significant volumes of soil it effectively becomes a retaining structure, rather than simply a decorative planter. Foundations, drainage and structural requirements then become significantly more important. Current retaining-wall installation costs are correspondingly much higher than ordinary low garden beds

  • The paving you see is only the finished surface. The longevity of a patio also depends on excavation, sub-base preparation, drainage, falls, bedding, jointing and maintaining suitable levels around the property. At Brite Landscaping, we approach the entire construction as a system rather than concentrating solely on how the paving looks when it is first installed.
